Composites Portal flies to Catania to present 'Academic World'

At the AIMAT conference, we will describe the project created to enhance the work of composite professors, scientists, and researchers and create a network between universities and companies

The future of materials and the materials of the future, together with other topics like science, new technologies, and environmental sustainability. Following these and other themes, the seventeenth national conference for AIMAT - the Italian Association of Materials Engineering – will be dedicated to these and other themes at the Plaza Hotel, in Catania, from May 28th to June 1st.


Plenary and invited lectures, oral communications, and posters are planned. Approximately two hundred presentations will be given over four days.


The scientific contributions will be arranged in the following thematic sessions:

• Synthesis, characterization, and modelling of materials
• New functions of materials
• Technological applications, new processes, and new manufacturing
• Sustainable design and material life cycle
• The environment, construction, and heritage preservation in collaboration with CINCOMINET


The arrival of all participants is scheduled for the evening of May 28th, while the conference activities will begin the following day with institutional greetings from Francesco Priolo, Rector of the University of Catania, Matteo Ignaccolo, Director of DICAr (Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture) of the same university, and MariaPia Pedeferri, AIMAT president.


The 30th anniversary celebration of the foundation of AIMAT will be held on the afternoon of May 30th and, on this occasion, prizes will be awarded for selected doctoral theses.


On the morning of June 1st, at the conclusion of the conference, there will be a round table on the theme "The role of Science and Materials Technology within the framework of the PNRR". It will be moderated by the journalist Mario Barresi.


Portale Compositi and Composites Portal, together with their publisher, ACS Srl, will also play a leading role in the meeting so as to present the "Academic World" project, an online platform created to enhance the work of composite professors, scientists and researchers and create a network between universities and companies.
