McLaren 765LT, the 'Supercar Revelation of the Year 2020'

Even lighter and even more powerful than the class-leading 720S, the 765LT boasts authentic Longtail track focus

The McLaren 765LT has been awarded Supercar Revelation of the Year 2020 by the jury of the Automobile Awards in Paris. Following the 720S Spider being awarded Supercar of the Year at the Parisian ceremony in 2019, this year the 16 members of the jury elected the lighter, more powerful and even more engaging 765LT as the winner of the ‘Revelation Award’.

This first European award for the newest LT celebrates McLaren’s mantra of “everything for a reason” and is the latest honour in a long list of accolades for the second-generation of McLaren Super Series. The ‘Longtail’ name was born in the ‘90s with the McLaren F1 and re-introduced by McLaren Automotive in 2015 with the limited edition 675LT, which was followed three years later by the McLaren 600LT. The 765LT builds on the LT philosophy of increased driver engagement; minimised weight; track-focused dynamics; optimised aerodynamics and increased power and is also limited in volume: just 765 numbered examples will be built to customer order, with 2020 production sold out since September.

Even lighter and even more powerful than the class-leading 720S, the 765LT boasts authentic Longtail track focus and unparalleled driver engagement, its 80kg weight-saving and exceptional 0-200km/h time of just 7.0 seconds surpassing even McLaren’s own performance target of respectively 70kgs and 7.2 seconds.

“The 765LT being recognised by Automobile Awards as Supercar Revelation of the Year is a great achievement and honour for everyone at McLaren Automotive. It reflects the superb teamwork of our designers and engineers in creating and crafting a supercar that is absolutely true to our ethos of ‘form following function,” commented Brett Soso, Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa at McLaren Automotive. “Since its unveiling at this year’s first ever virtual McLaren Motorshow, the McLaren 765LT has been successfully received across Europe, Middle East and Africa and we are excited to see the first customers now getting their own 765LT delivered across the region.”
