Specialinsert – leading industrial organization specialized in the development, production and sales of fastening systems – has solidified its position as a key player in the high-end automotive industry through its synergistic collaboration with Dallara Automobili. Founded in 1972 in Varano de' Melegari, Parma, Dallara - world leader in chassis design and pioneer in carbon fiber technology - has entrusted Specialinsert with the production of fastening systems for its first street-legal supercar, fulfilling Dallara's Founder’s long-held dream.
The engines of the Dallara Stradale have roared to life, showcasing one of the brand's most ambitious projects to date that combines the performance and technical components of racing cars with the practicality of a road-approved vehicle, offering a unique and engaging driving experience. In its base configuration, the sports car is a doorless “barchetta”, which can be integrated with a windscreen and a rear T-Frame to which gull-wing doors can be attached, blending comfort and grip, ideal for both raceway, in the Track version, and road use. In this context, fastening systems play a crucial engineering role, where every millimeter and gram matters.
"The achievements of this technically complex project are the result of continuous teamwork of all members of Specialinsert's R&D Department who, in synergy with the internal team of the automotive company, have made this significant milestone possible for Dallara and the entire motorsport segment" states Andrea Dellino, a member of Specialinsert's R&D team, who continues "This collaboration, marked by excellence and the sharing of expertise, once again demonstrates Specialinsert's value as a reliable partner, thanks to its unique blend of qualified consultancy and production flexibility, providing high-performance and customized solutions".
Specifically, the reasons that have led Dallara Automobili to partner with Specialinsert are closely linked to its proficiency in composite material applications. Consequently, a custom variant of the Master-Plate insert was specially developed for use in the vehicle's carbon-fiber monocoque. Through meticulous technical study, Specialinsert's tailor-made fastening systems indeed adhere perfectly to the carbon structure and can be inserted into micro-holes in the chassis without the need for alignment templates, centering, integrations or additional structures, reducing assembly times. This successful outcome is based on 50 years of experience in the fastening industry, which has also enabled the acceleration and increased efficiency of the production process while maintaining the same quality standards.
"Specialinsert continues its R&D activities to provide cutting-edge solutions which anticipate trends in the top-tier automotive industry and meet the demands of leading supercar manufacturers, who currently focus on safety and lightness" declares Cinzia Arduini, CEO of Specialinsert, who concludes "To lighten vehicles in a key process aimed at offsetting the increased load due to the progressive transition to hybrid and electric car models, Specialinsert® is experimenting with the latest materials, developing a new range of titanium inserts. These are designed to replace stainless steel counterparts, reducing component weight by 50% while maintaining the same high-performance levels".
