AEC advances industrial production of composite structures for aerospace and defense

New manufacturing technologies for aerostructures and propulsion showcased at JEC World 2026

Albany Engineered Composites has announced expanded capabilities in the industrial production of advanced composite components for aerospace, space and defense applications. The company, part of Albany International, presented its production-ready technologies during JEC World 2026, the leading global trade show dedicated to composite materials.

AEC designs and manufactures engineered composite structures for aircraft engines, aerostructures and systems used in military aircraft, missiles and unmanned platforms. The strategy focuses on replacing legacy metallic components with high‑performance composite solutions that provide significantly improved strength‑to‑weight ratios.

Emerging applications include components designed for extreme environments such as aircraft turbines, rocket motors and hypersonic systems. Advanced composites enable lighter structures while maintaining high mechanical strength and thermal resistance, improving overall aerospace system efficiency.

According to the company, scaling up composite manufacturing is a key challenge for next‑generation aerospace and defense programs, which require higher production rates and more resilient supply chains.
