Albany Engineered Composites, a segment of Albany International, has reached an agreement with Boeing to continue manufacturing composite fuselage frames for the 787 Dreamliner, extending an industrial partnership spanning more than a decade.
Under the agreement, Albany will continue to manufacture approximately 300 unique composite fuselage frames for the 787, including forward Sections 41 and 43 and aft Section 47. The company has produced composite frames for Sections 41 and 43 since Boeing's original award in 2014.
Production will continue at Albany's facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, confirming the site's role within the 787 supply chain.
“We are excited to continue this partnership, built over more than a decade of successful collaboration,” said Chris Stone, president of Albany Engineered Composites. The company will focus on supporting the 787 production ramp while maintaining consistency, quality and reliability and further improving manufacturing efficiency.
The agreement also highlights the continuing role of composite materials in primary structures for modern commercial aircraft and the importance of scalable and repeatable manufacturing processes as aerospace production rates increase.
