Bugatti brings unique aluminium and carbon fibre Veyron back to Molsheim

Grand Sport Vitesse chassis 8.100 has been returned to its original specification through the La Maison Pur Sang programme, combining polished exposed aluminium, carbon fibre and 1,200 PS

Bugatti has completed the refurbishment and certification of one of the rarest Veyron Grand Sport Vitesses ever built, chassis 8.100, a one-off model distinguished by its exposed polished aluminium bodywork and extensive use of visible carbon fibre.
The car was originally commissioned by a customer known for highly individualised specifications. Its most radical feature was the body itself: producing the exterior surfaces required aluminium blocks that could weigh as much as 20 tonnes before machining.

Rather than being concealed beneath paint, the metal forms a central part of the car’s visual identity, reflecting light across its sculpted surfaces. Inside, Carmine Red leather contrasts with polished aluminium and exposed carbon fibre, with the materials contributing both technical performance and visual character.

Before production began, Bugatti’s designers carried out extensive studies of proportions, surfaces and light. The project then moved to the Bugatti Atelier in Molsheim, where its construction was carefully documented, creating a detailed record of one of the most ambitious projects of the Veyron era.

The Grand Sport Vitesse retains Bugatti’s 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 engine, delivering 1,200 PS and 1,500 Nm of torque.

More than a decade after it was created, the car returned to Molsheim through La Maison Pur Sang, Bugatti’s programme dedicated to researching, certifying, preserving and restoring historic and modern models. Chassis 8.100 underwent a comprehensive certification and refurbishment process aimed at returning the vehicle to its original vision, including the removal of later personalisation elements.

The programme also supports collectors by tracing vehicle history and provenance, verifying authenticity and preserving the original specification or, where requested, carefully updating individual cars.

Now residing on the French Riviera, Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse chassis 8.100 has received La Maison Pur Sang certification and represents an unusual combination of aluminium, carbon fibre, craftsmanship and high-performance engineering.
