Bugatti tradition comes back in a unique supercar

The historic sports car has given rise to Bugatti’s latest car: the Chiron Super Sport “Hommage T50S”

In 1931, Bugatti made its official debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the pioneering creation, the Type 50S, which has inspired the new car Chiron Super Sport “Hommage T50S”.

The Bugatti’s lead Sur Mesure designer, Jascha Straub, met a costumer who asked him to make a Chiron Super Sport that could celebrate the brand history. In that moment the costumer was enchanted with the story of the Type 50S and this is exactly how the Hommage T50S was created.

Just like the original, this unlimited creation is made in a dark and lustrous black and there is a contrasting ‘5’ hand-painted on both sides of the car.
‘Le Mans 1931’ script sits ahead of the rear wheel arch and it is stitched, also, into both driver and passenger headrests.
The original car is recreated in a hand-applied on each of the door panels and the Circuit de la Sarthe was painted on the underside of the rear spoiler.
The interior is black and it is illuminated by the optional Sky View glass roof, designed to give passengers the feeling of being under the sky, as in the original Type 50S.

Jasha Straub said: “The Type 50S lineage helped established Ettore and Jean’s pioneering vision in the early 1930s for powerful, large-engine-capacity Bugatti race cars operating at the extreme end of high-performance.”
The Lead Designer Sur Mesure confessed to having spoken with the costumer for hours about how they could create an authetic tribute of Type 50S story, folowing the standards of the Bugatti brand.

The Managing Director, Hendrik Malinowski, said: “Once again, the Sur Mesure team led by Jascha Straub has delivered an exceptionally personal project of co-creation, utilizing the passion of our customer, the insight of our experts and the skill of our craftspeople in the creation of a love letter to the iconic Type 50S. It’s not just a modern-day design homage but a continuation of a story that began nearly a century ago.”
