Continuous Composites opens Seattle-area centre for continuous fibre 3D printing

The new Kent, Washington facility will focus on CF3D development for aerospace, defence and space applications

Continuous Composites is opening a new engineering facility in Kent, in the Seattle area, to accelerate development of its patented CF3D – Continuous Fiber 3D Printing technology and strengthen collaboration with aerospace, defence and space companies across the Pacific Northwest.

The approximately 5,600-square-foot facility will be located in the Kent Valley, one of the United States’ most concentrated aerospace and advanced manufacturing corridors. The new team will focus on CF3D technology development, high-temperature composite components and joint projects with customers and industry partners.

CF3D combines continuous fibre reinforcement with rapid-curing thermoset materials, placing fibres along complex three-dimensional paths. The process is intended to consolidate assemblies, reduce weight, improve structural performance and automate manufacturing steps that traditionally rely heavily on manual labour.

The new centre follows Continuous Composites’ April 2026 expansion into a 17,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, more than doubling its previous footprint.

According to the company, the Kent location will enable closer collaboration with OEMs, materials suppliers and precision-manufacturing specialists, helping accelerate the development of new applications.

The expansion therefore represents another step towards the industrialisation of continuous-fibre additive manufacturing, combining the geometric freedom of 3D printing with the structural performance of fibre-reinforced composites.
