The European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA) has officially launched the European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA), a voluntary initiative devoted to advancing the circularity of composite materials.
Since its debut in May 2025, the Alliance has attracted more than 160 organisations across Europe, confirming the industry’s strong commitment to the EU’s green transition.
EuCIA highlights that composites circularity is a key enabler for the entire value chain, achievable only through cooperation among all stakeholders. As a sectorial alliance of EuCIA, the ECCA provides a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, fostering collective action to create genuinely circular and sustainable value chains.
Alignment with EU policies such as the Green Industrial Deal and the forthcoming Circular Economy Act—now under public consultation—will be crucial to its success. ECCA has already established dialogue with EU policymakers.
The launch of the Alliance comes at a pivotal time: circularity is moving to the core of Europe’s industrial policy and competitiveness strategy. The new Circular Economy Act, expected in 2026, aims to speed up the transition towards a more circular economy and expand the use of recycled materials.
Composites, known for their durability and versatility, are ideally suited to this vision. Yet, achieving full circularity will require overcoming legal, technical, and economic challenges, particularly in scaling up recycling technologies.
With the creation of ECCA, EuCIA reinforces its dedication to sustainability, innovation, and collaboration, paving the way for a truly circular future for composite materials in Europe.
