Ferrari honors its own inventors

The Inventors Award is an initiative designed to recognize and reward the contributions of employees who develop technical solutions, patents, and industrial improvements

The fifth edition of the Ferrari Inventors Award was held in Maranello. The initiative recognises and celebrates the contribution of employees who develop technical solutions, patents and industrial improvements. The award forms part of Ferrari’s strategy to strengthen its culture of innovation and intellectual property, encompassing not only Research & Development but all company functions involved in the evolution of products and processes.

Since the programme launched in 2021, innovation initiatives from Ferrari people have increased more than tenfold, with more than 500 inventions recognised at this year’s ceremony.

The programme has significantly broadened the pool of ideas and technological development opportunities, highlighting the effectiveness of its system for encouraging innovation. This growth has gone hand in hand with the company’s increase in patent filings, from 39 in 2021 to 203 in 2025.

This year’s edition introduced the Deletion Award, recognising process improvements and initiatives focused on simplification, waste elimination and improved operational efficiency.

During the ceremony, the inventors received their awards from Ferrari Chairman John Elkann and CEO Benedetto Vigna, together with the Ferrari Leadership Team.

Herbert Wertheim, the American entrepreneur, inventor and philanthropist recognised for his contributions to optics and technological advancement, was the guest of honour of the 2026 edition. The founder of Brain Power Inc., Wertheim has created numerous inventions and holds more than one hundred patents and other intellectual property rights through his company.

Ernesto Lasalandra, Ferrari Chief Research & Development Officer, said: “With the Inventors Award, we have celebrated ideas, achievements and patents, but above all, we have celebrated people. It means a great deal to see so many colleagues contributing every day, with skill and determination, to Ferrari’s development, and it is precisely this internal creativity that continues to be one of the most important driving forces behind our company’s growth.”
