This year, the parent company of the LEHVOSS Group, Lehmann&Voss&Co., celebrates its 125th company anniversary

This year, the parent company of the LEHVOSS Group, Lehmann&Voss&Co., celebrates its 125th company anniversary. Under the motto “Inspired by technology and innovation – for 125 years” different business areas of the LEHVOSS Group will present themselves at the leading trade fair of the plastics industry with their products and new developments based on 125 years of experience.

Lehmann&Voss&Co. has made it for the second time to the ranks of the innovation leaders of the German mid-sized companies. Within the framework of the 26th edition of the Top 100 Seal, the company was honoured at a gala event in the Frankfurt Jahrhunderthalle Arena on 28 June 2019 by Ranga Yogeshwar, Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke and compamedia. In the independent selection procedure Lehmann&Voss&Co. convinced again in the category “Innovative Success”; the good result of 2017 was again significantly improved.

The largest part of the innovative strength is currently generated by the business area High Performance Compounds. This activity of the LEHVOSS Group with the highest sales revenues is focusing on the development and manufacturing of customised, tailor-made plastics. At the beginning of the anniversary year a new innovation centre was inaugurated in Hamburg. Apart from a comprehensive lab and a new pilot plant, moulding processes are further developed, including, more particularly, those in the field of new 3D printing technologies. In this future-proof field the company focuses mainly on laser sintering and extrusion technology.

“Our goal is to move 3D technology from prototype construction to industrial applications,” Dr Alexander Sunder, the head of the business area declares. In order to make progress in this field, the chemical company relies on innovative and extraordinary 3D products with model and beacon character. One of them is a 6.5 metre long sailboat manufactured by 3D printing. For this first sailing yacht in the world manufactured by 3D printing, the mid-sized company has developed the suitable material: the high-performance polyamide reinforced with carbon fibres, scores with a high rigidity, strength and low weight.
