Moore Brothers Company, a U.S. engineering and composite fabrication firm, has joined the international 40OF project team as North American build, development and commercial representative. The 40OF is a 40-foot full-foiling offshore racing yacht designed by Wilson/Marquinez Naval Architecture to make foiling technology more accessible in offshore sailing.
The yacht is designed to sail in four modes: displacement, foil-assisted, stern-down foiling and full-flight foiling from around 12 knots of wind. Its configuration combines retractable foils, a canting keel and the ability to dock and operate in conventional marinas, balancing extreme performance with practical handling.
For the composites sector, the announcement is significant because racing yachts remain a key development laboratory for lightweight, high-strength and highly engineered structures, with technologies that can transfer to aerospace, professional marine and advanced mobility.
