R&M International has acquired Vartega’s carbon fibre recovery technology and EasyFeed Bundles production capabilities, supporting the industrial-scale use of recycled carbon fibre in thermoplastic composites.
The transaction includes patented technology developed to recover carbon fibre and transform it into feedstock that can be more easily processed in industrial applications, together with the know-how required to manufacture EasyFeed Bundles.
The bundles are designed to improve the feeding and dispersion of recycled carbon fibres in processes including injection moulding and additive manufacturing, facilitating their incorporation into thermoplastic matrices.
The technology can be combined with a range of polymers, from widely used materials such as polypropylene, nylon and polycarbonate to high-performance matrices including PEEK, potentially extending recycled carbon fibre into applications with different performance requirements.
A particularly significant aspect is production scale. The technology provides potential capacity of up to 1,000 tonnes of material per year, supporting the development of a more structured supply chain for recycled carbon fibre.
