SHD Composites has announced the commissioning of new manufacturing capabilities featuring 1500 mm wide UD prepreg and advanced film coating production lines.
The initiative, part of the UK‑headquartered company’s longer‑term growth strategy under the Cambium group, is aimed at meeting increasing demand from automotive, marine, aerospace and defense industries for high‑performance composite materials.
The wider prepreg formats enable SHD to produce large structural composite reinforcements, while the enhanced film coating systems deliver precision resin solutions with tailored chemistries required for next‑generation applications.
Company leadership noted that these upgrades support rapid development programs and high‑volume manufacturing needs, offering broader material options and improved process control.
These capabilities are expected to enable faster development cycles and more ambitious composite designs in lightweight mobility, marine structures, and aerospace components.
