SPACERAISE, the international school dedicated to the space applications

Running until May 22, 2026, the SPACERAISE school brings together the expertise of the GSSI, the Gran Sasso Tech Foundation and leading industrial partners

Sixty lecturers, including university professors – amongst them Michel Mayor, Nobel Laureate for the discovery of exoplanets – and specialists from the aerospace industry and international space agencies such as NASA and ESA; 280 selected participants from 61 different countries across four continents; 220 scholarships awarded to participants; a three-week course running from today until 22 May.

These are the figures for the second edition of SPACERAISE, the international school dedicated to the space applications of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Geospatial Data, organised by the Gran Sasso Science Institute and the Gran Sasso Tech Foundation, which opened this morning in L’Aquila in the presence of diplomatic representatives from the 15 participating countries, including the Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia and President of the IILA, Ligia Margarita Quessep, the Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica, Istvan Alfaro Solano, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya, Fredirck Matwang'a, and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Argentina, Alicia Silvina Barone.

Following opening remarks by the Rector of the Gran Sasso Science Institute, Paola Inverardi, institutional greetings were delivered by the Mayor of L’Aquila, Pierluigi Biondi, the President of the Abruzzo Region, Marco Marsilio, Senator Guido Liris and Senator Etelwardo Sigismondi.

Also present was the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli.
